Divine outerwear, simple as that. But wait: Max Mara livened it up with bright hues, stripes, chevron prints, and sequins. Bauhaus, Dada, Constructivism, Modernism were among the themes running throughout this collection: think female artists in boiler suits painting away in their studios, if those uniforms had been jazzed up and destined for a night out on the town. The pieces that will fly off the racks first are a long grey wool coat with slouchy matching pants, a navy pinstripe suit, black coats covered in wet varnish, a chic long camel coat, a white shearling and more of those cozy teddy bear coats. The latter have certainly been a hot ticket for the brand, making their first iteration in oversized silhouettes on Max Mara’s Fall 2013 runway, followed by one runway version for Fall 2015, and a few styles for Pre-Fall 2016. In other words, the look is a brand staple. What could be more desirable when the weather dips into single digits? Stylist, influencers, and more daring clientele will love the colorful stripe ensembles and fur coats. And the mix of sequined gold and sober camels proved to be another winning combination.
