Simone Rocha Spring 2015

In bloom…and very much in love! Those were the key sentiments on the runway chez Simone Rocha. The cheeky tokens of girlish, coquettish affection were trotted out first, including crisp, girlish white eyelet, stiffly scalloped at the hems and decking out the Also on offer: marabou fur-trimmed frocks, the boudoir-ready pieces made a bit quirky thanks to fur-trimmed flats (try keeping those clean while stomping the pavement…) and asymmetrical trimming. Arguably, the collection really hit its stride at look 17, with a sheer, pale pink trench got festooned with sizable red floral embroidery. The motif was also carried out on a girly, slightly ruffled knee-grazing dress and a pair of trou. The transparent blush separates that followed were pretty fetching as well. And when the aforementioned themes went to the dark side in the latter part of the show, trotted out in noir, they were equally as appealing, and maybe a little more work-friendly. Rocha has done weirder things on the catwalk in seasons past, but there’s a whole lot to love in her latest showing.
