Givenchy - Paris Spring 2009
(PARIS) Riccardo Tisci channeled a very wild west for his spring collection, where a little bit of bondage kept everything together. There were denim chaps graced with a leather crotch, crisp white blouses with gold cowboy ties, and even sheriff's badges done in crystal. "I loved the denim best," said Emmanuelle Alt to Carine Roitfeld in the bum rush of editrixes clawing their way backstage after the show. And no wonder, as those pieces were destined for the pages of French Vogue. But the neon yellow lace minidresses underneath a crystal-studded nude sheer overlay will have everyone else fighting for samples. A series of spectacular black and white dresses with an interlocking band motif across the back will charm shoppers in search of an un-basic classic. Chez Givenchy, there's something for everyone--and everyone wants it desperately. Talk about recession-proof!
