Christian Lacroix - Paris Spring 2009
(PARIS) Edwardian jackets, bustled skirts, naughtily nipped-in waists, cheeky polka dots--it was classic Lacroix, with all the best elements delivered at once and ensemble. The spring collection, shown in a Tuileries, tent offered the Lacroix devotees--and especially the Lacroix dreamers--his very best work, which a heroic, happy few usually only see at couture. The carnations shown in July had repercussions for spring, namely in a dreamy print that was pleated in some gowns with a candy-wrapper effect. One sweater dress had oversized pleats that nearly strangled the model's neck--and she appeared to love every minute of it. It was excessively gorgeous, but never too much--because Lacroix manages to infuse every piece with a tiny giggle.
