Costume National - Paris Fashion Week Spring 2008
(PARIS) Ennio Capasa (whose Costume National line turns 21 this year and is being celebrated with a new book) stated that his Spring 2008 collection was inspired by "A cool and chic traveler, after a long journey to India--Goa, Himalaya, Kerala, the monasteries, Mumbai--returns home inspired by colors and shapes asking her couturier for city dresses and evening gowns...A fusion of India and couture, Goa, and Milan, Paris, New York, with a pinch of irony." The chic Costume National femme was wearing lots of tunics, laser-cut silks covered in organza (even on loose-fitting trenches), long, flared trousers, and transparent organza pajama pants, in bright hues of aubergine, pale blue, coral, fuchsia, geranium, sand, lemon, and saffron. Accessories were kept simple but refined: sandals and thongs with high ankle straps on milled heels and small wedges of mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell.
