(PARIS) Ahoy, Akris! The Spring 2008 show was inspired by velocity, the architecture of a high-tech yacht, the '20s, and the idea of luxurious nonchalance. This came across not only in the surfing-boat style runway but in the tailored proportions, the muted palette interspersed with bursts of yellow, the insouciant palazzo pants, and the post-it note skirts, dresses, and tops which dominated the latter part of the show. Silhouettes were streamlined while vertical color blocking prevailed--seen to great effect on a white and dove grey cube dress topped off with a woven rope belt. Other sailing chic touches included the white net two-piece lifesaver dress with nylon ribbon stripe detail, the billowing sail collars on organza coats and jersey dresses, and the signal flag embroidery accessorizing a dove grey silk organza jacket.
