(PARIS) Valentino, in thinking that it would be nearly impossible to top his July extravaganza in Rome, kept things simple and to the point with his last prêt-à-porter collection Wednesday. An ode to his love for the socialite woman--albeit one that is slightly more mod this season--was delivered seamlessly against a backdrop at the Carrousel du Louvre that featured the same colorful circular logo that he played up during the 45th anniversary bash. Only this time, the vibrant logo rotated in the backdrop and was translated into one massive circular runway that easily could've doubled for a disco (which it did, as models came out dancing at the end and Vava himself joined them under the lights). As for the clothes, well, what can one say? It was again a collection of his greatest hits throughout the decades (minus the shoulder pads of the '80s), with bursts of his signature red in the form of glamorous gowns. This collection appealed to both the more mature, with its structured suits and forgiving dresses, and his new young clientele, with the bright candy colors that hit the right spot without causing a toothache.
