Karl Lagerfeld - Paris Fall 2008
(PARIS) Roll Call: Suzy Menkes, Stephen Gan, Patrick Demarchelier, The MisShapes, Glenda Bailey, Michael Carl, Emmanuelle Alt
Chic Report: "Black is the best for the silhouette, for the body shapes. Try getting the same effect with print!" Karl Lagerfeld exclaimed before his collection of black, white, and navy garments with an occasional flicker of sparkle paraded down the runway. His woman had a masculine flair, wearing bow ties, tuxedo cuffs and shirts, oxfords, and double- and single-breasted jackets. There were skirts aplenty in the showing, from pleated minis with tulle underlay to more somber ankle-grazing maxis. "The attitude can be achieved many different ways, with a long skirt, a short skirt. It's all about the attitude and confidence," Lagerfeld explained. Olivier Zahm approved, explaining, "It had a very chic, distinct richness, with some early Victorian Germanic influences."
