Vivienne Westwood - Paris Fall 2008
(PARIS) Roll Call: Every editor that matters!
Chic Report: For Fall 2008, Vivienne Westwood imagined eco-warriors living in the furthest reaches of the Amazonian jungle, which translated into a collection ripe with tribal makeup, saturated color, and the brightly colored doodles of a group of English schoolchildren. There were roomy jackets, off-kilter fur capes, droopy pants, and meticulously sculpted frocks with pouf sleeves and draped cowl necks--all covered in the children’s carefully painted stripes and sunbursts. It wouldn’t be a Westwood show without shock value, and when Atong emerged in a decidedly non-tribal strapless gown with a dramatic pink taffeta cape, the front row was held rapt. "Vivienne was brilliant this season," said Hilary Alexander. "The prints on her clothes were hand-painted by seven-year-old pupils at a school in Huntington and they perfectly executed her vision, which was inspired by a trip down the Amazon."
