Yohji Yamamoto - Paris Fall 2007
(NEW YORK) While some might take his logos as a barbed lampoon, others might see what Yamamoto's doing as a co-opting of fashion's dominant language for his own purposes. Futurism, after all, is the buzz-word these days, and he showed branding as both past and future, as with the show's opening piece, an insignia-dotted stiff, lean leather trench with a fashion's-future gloss and an elongated, 1940s-inspired silhouette. But polka dots soon took the logos' place, as though the branding that inspires so much controversy today will seem innocuous tomorrow, just another pattern.|page|
