CARTIER & HARPERS BAZAAR: Women Who Dare - Dinner Arrivals

As far as celebrating a century goes, last night’s fête to celebrate 100 years of La Panthère de Cartier was quite a lively one. The iconic feline was first introduced by Louis Cartier, the son of the maison‘s founder, Louis-François Cartier. Ever since that first watch, created with the ferocious cat in mind, the brand has been associated with panthers. Last eve began with a star-studded dinner celebration, held at Skylight Clarkson Sq., hosted in conjunction with Harper’s Bazaar and their Daring November issue. Dining alongside a slew of editors, including editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey, executive editor Laura Brown, and style director Joanna Hillman were the likes of Christy Turlington Burns, Chloë Sevigny, Debbie Harry, and Brooke Shields. The ladies being honored were dubbed “Bazaar‘s Women Who Dare”. How would Sevigny would like to celebrate her centennial birthday? “Well, I’m about to spend my 40th birthday with 10 of my best friends in Toulouse. If it was my 100th birthday, I’d like to be somewhere surrounded by my grandchildren.”

Once the clock struck nine, the younger set came out for the late-night party. The soirée wasn’t solely dedicated to cocktails and dancing, as there were some history lessons to absorb as well. The space was decorated with motifs, images, and icons that came together to celebrate the enduring legacy of La Panthère. You’d better believe there were plenty of diamonds to drool over, too: panther necklaces, bracelets, lariats, rings, watches, and more. Last night’s guests included W‘s Stefano Tonchi, Erin Wasson, Mickey Boardman, Rooney Mara, and Waris Ahluwalia.

“A watch!” Marie Claire‘s Kyle Anderson fondly recalled his very first Cartier piece. “I got it in boarding school, though, so I don’t remember which one.” Well, good thing we picked out our next Cartier watch last night…we certainly won’t be forgetting!
