Swedish Chicster Efva Attling Celebrates Three Years In New York

Last night, bauble designer to the stars and Swedish celeb Efva Attling had a ball (or two). Literally: she was wearing her iconic Balls necklace and a coordinating ear cuff, to celebrate her boutique’s third year in the Meatpacking district. The shop was stuffed to the brim with jewelry-adoring revelers, who drooled over diamond encrusted chokers, giggled at the cheeky Paparazzi ring stamped with the phrase ‘F*ck Off’, and peered dreamily at earrings adorned with butterflies. The designs might’ve been saucy, but Attling, a former model and pop star, was a vision in pure white, with a big blonde bun to match. Between posing for selfies with customers and pointing out her favorite baubles, Attling took five minutes to chat with your Daily.

At the moment, what are your top three pieces in the store?
I always love the Bend Over Ring, the Amor Fati collection, and Balls, baby!

So, what’s the deal with the balls?
I’m wearing Balls because I’ve got balls! I want to boost people up with my Balls collection. You know how Nike said ‘Just do it’? I say ‘You’ve got balls. Just do it.’ There’s only one life, and you have to make the best of it.

Most of your jewelry has a strong statement behind it. Why is that?
I was a singer/songwriter and I used to move people with words when I was singing. I think that’s what music is all about; it allows you to contemplate, cry, laugh, or whatever it is you need to do. Music has been one of my biggest inspirations in my collection and I try to evoke the same feelings with my jewelry.

Your store is in the Meatpacking ‘hood, where clubs abound. Are you a frequent late-night partier?
Of course! I have my special card for the Boom Boom Room. After all, I am an ex-go go girl, so I love to go out dancing.

What do you have in mind for the next three years?
To spread my message of beauty with a thought, all over America.
