Dita Von Teese Delves Into Eyewear

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese is seeing 20/20 with her latest project: an eyewear deal with DITA Inc. The signature spate of frames, called Dita Von Teese Evewear, encompasses 10 styles that will retail for $235 to $285. Expect metal and acetate specs and vixen-apropos cat-eye styles from the line. As for the uncannily similar names of Von Teese and her latest business partner? The former inspired the latter, in fact. DITA Inc. co-founder John Juniper has been pals with Von Teese for more than two decades, and Von Teese actually inspired Juniper when naming his L.A.-based eyewear company.

Von Teese starred in the label’s ad campaign last season. She also modeled the line’s very first prototypes back in the ’90s. The impetus for getting into the eyewear game was the dearth of well-fitting vintage frames: “…I don’t like to wear authentic vintage glasses because the proportion is rarely correct for a present-day face; they are usually too small, and end up looking grandmotherly,” Von Teese told WWD. Her own line of visage accessories will be available globally beginning in May, at select chain stores as well as department stores. Before dabbling in eyewear, Von Teese’s fashion forays have included a collection of dresses, plus her recently-released lingerie line, priced at $40 to $300, which rolled out last month, and a series of underpinnings and fragrances that debuted in March 2013 on HSN.
