Dennis Basso - New York Spring 2010
(NEW YORK) Dennis Basso may be a furrier more famous for hawking his coats on QVC than for his runway presentations, but the designer showed a truly sophisticated collection for spring. Fur for spring, you wonder? Front row-ers Joan Rivers and Ivanka Trump may not be shy about sporting theirs year 'round, but what about the everywoman? Basso showed something in skin for everybody, starting with a bronze python-bodiced cocktail dress and python boleros and merging into, yes, furs-made warm-weather appropriate with narrow stripes of mink and organza. The dresses were impressive on their own; a Degas ballerina inspiration meant full taffeta, organza, and charmeuse skirts with simple tanks on top, and two more casual ribbed knit dresses were incredibly chic. But even in the springtime, it's the skins that will keep Basso-philes coming back for more.
