Kors was dreaming of the desert for his resort collection this season. A very glamorous desert, of course. The locale? Palm Springs circa 1970. Camel colored tans, crisp whites, shimmery golds, bold aquas, and dusty rose pinks comprised the palette, while themes such as wide legged trou, trenches, color blocking, and animal prints ran throughout the collection. To wit: Variations of caramel came in the form of belted sandy colored trench coats paired with matching wide leg pants or a tan leather micro mini paired with a matching ribbed sweater. The colorblocked pieces stood out in black, white and tan like a deep V-silhouetted column gown accented with matching cuff bangles on each arm, or an A-line above-the-ankle dress sporting a cinched waist and small cap sleeves (a silhouette that feels very Anna Wintour, non?). A burst of color came via aqua leather belted trench dress, which was worn adorned with a Lucite choker and crisp whites came in a lace 70’s style tunic top paired with match lace white wide-leg pants or a stark white leisure suit. Meanwhile, the evening looks went the full-on glam route, by way of shimmery gold bell sleeve tunic gowns, a one-shouldered black sequined giraffe print gown, and a glistening silver, long sleeved, leopard print column gown (oh, and it was also sheer, if that wasn’t enough flash for one dress) for a true queen of the desert affect. Kors may have had Palm Springs on the mind, but it also reminded us of Sharon Stone‘s famously fabulous get ups in Casino. Cha-ching!
