Cynthia Rowley - New York Spring 2009
(NEW YORK) All eyes were on Cynthia Rowley at her Spring 2009 show, which debuted a collection inspired by sports and...eyes? Clean lines, athletic details, colorblocking, and racerback dominated, but Rowley added her quirky touch with elements like layers of mesh, "silhouettes in motion" (dresses with a silhouette of the body off-center, as though it was moving away from the dress), and googly-eye brooches and eye prints. "I like to do one really cohesive statement for the runway," Rowley said after the show. "It really was all eyes on the clothes!" Her witty aesthetic has garnered her starlet fans like Julia Stiles, who sat front row. "She designs clothing that's really wearable, and makes you feel really sexy and feminine, but also comfortable," Stiles said. "I just saw some of her stuff in the showroom, from last season...mouthwatering!"
