Marchesa - New York Spring 2009
(NEW YORK) One didn’t need to sip the mini bottles of Moet at Marchesa’s presentation to realize that the brand was, in fact, here to stay. For the third straight season, the brand opted for the gallery style presentation that seems to be getting more popular with every such occasion. Hundreds walked through the Chinese inspired collection, a model fainted with all the excitement, and the waiting list for editorial bragging rights of at least four gowns was formed by the time an hour was through. This season, Georgina Chapman worked as the designer, with Craig extensively helping out with creations and formations of some of the more dazzling gowns, like a lilac floor-length showstopper and black dress overlaid with glassy sheer organza that had to be flown in from England. The superbly-edited collection also included dazzling takes on silk, satin and beyond; Marchesa has become a powerhouse in the creation of instantly recognizable evening attractions.
