Rodarte - New York Spring 2009
(NEW YORK) The Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander compared sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy to “Cybergodesses--Star Wars meets ancient Greece.” But there was a harder edge to their fairy tale fashions. First came the nude looks: precisely pleated skirts and cut out leggings with slashed sleeveless tops. A series of otherworldly Grecian gowns in orange, white and violet were grounded on terra firma with chains, leather-strapped bodices and bomber jackets. The sisters said it was all about “endoskeletons” and “fossils.” Anna Wintour manned the zig-zagged front row flanked by Elijah Wood and Natalie Portman.
