Peter Som - New York Spring 2009
(NEW YORK) Two of the driest places on earth—the Sahara Desert, the Arabia of Sir Lawrence—inspired a collection as cool and refreshing as an afternoon cocktail. “I wanted to do something optimistic and slightly escapist. I used neutrals and oasis colors, offset by bright saturated oranges and reds, for a sexy twist,” said Som. Meredith Melling Burke was visibly riveted, and Bonnie Morrison appeared to have tears in her eyes. The desert and azure colors, the beading, the flowing dresses, the print minidresses—count on a Som-ulent spring.
