Rachel Roy - New York Spring 2009
(NEW YORK) Rachel Roy’s collection, presented Thursday at the IAC Building, explored all the sides of the Rachel Roy woman: “She’s exploring elegance via ease, how you can balance the two and have pajamas set for a formal event. It’s about the individual and what she wants to bring forth,” explained the designer. From a simple, structured yellow dress to a flowing green print gown, from a silky set of pajamas to a bustier-topped tulip dress, the Rachel Roy woman certainly did have a lot of sides, though they all shared Roy’s luxurious aesthetic and Parisian and African influences. A printed minidress shared the collection with a long-sleeved white shift dress stitched with mots françaises. “I love how flowing it is and how cinematic it is," said Veronica Webb at the presentation, "and that you can imagine yourself in New York or on the Riviera...or in L.A.!”
