Tommy Hilfiger - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2008
(NEW YORK) Hilfiger's show this season was all about carefree confidence, with American fashion of the '60s and early '70s as the inspiration-the "country's golden age of American iconic glamour", an idea that he also explored in his Iconic America book that made its debut this week. Preppy looks such as the all-pink short and sleeveless blouse combination were contrasted with sportier pieces, such as the Americana blue, red, and white striped cotton knit dress, and high-waisted trousers were paired with silk blouses, evoking a Lauren Hutton masculine-yet-sexy aesthetic. For men, it was all about the '50s ad man with narrow fitted jackets, slightly pegged pants, and briefcases. Pink trousers and blazers rounded out the look--perfect for Martignetti's or the local country club.
