Tory Burch - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2008
(NEW YORK) Burch has assumed the throne (step aside Lilly Pulitzer) as the queen of preppy chic. Her spring collection covered familiar territory-jewel encrusted tunics, boldly colored shift dresses-but still managed to feel fresh and crisp. And most importantly for the legions of Burch-ophiles, it was pretty. The designer’s inspiration was three-pronged: the glitz of St. Tropez, the elegance of the Audrey Hepburn flick
Two for the Road, and the upscale beachwear of Palm Beach. The latter’s influence turned up in items like a palm print chemise and oversized straw bags. And of course, Burch had on hand a few bathing suits for the blue-blooded gal who wants to get her feet wet.
