Tory Burch - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2008
Burch has assumed the throne (step aside Lilly Pulitzer) as the queen of preppy chic. Her spring collection covered familiar territory-jewel encrusted tunics, boldly colored shift dresses-but still managed to feel fresh and crisp. And most importantly for the legions of Burch-ophiles, it was pretty. The designer’s inspiration was three-pronged: the glitz of St. Tropez, the elegance of the Audrey Hepburn flick Two for the Road
, and the upscale beachwear of Palm Beach. The latter’s influence turned up in items like a palm print chemise and oversized straw bags. And of course, Burch had on hand a few bathing suits for the blue-blooded gal who wants to get her feet wet.
