(NEW YORK) For spring Lim had journeys on his mind-daily city trips, exotic escapes, or the more metaphoric journey of life. “My inspiration was self-reflection and really realizing and appreciating the opportunity that I have,” Lim said. “Everyone has a journey and to that extent I was looking at photographs of people in transition-whether that be people in the airport train or plane. Instead of 'we are off to see the wizard of Oz and the yellow brick road path,' we created a gold coin road for luck.” Voyage-loving Amelia Earhart was Lim’s muse, along with Madame Grès, the fashion whiz of pleats and draping. The first look worn by Irina Lazareanu exemplified the designer's utilitarian efforts-a khaki coat with epaulets, topped with an oversized white jacket and tie worn with baggy pants. Dresses were draped and pleated, in inky blue and bright orange shades. A red macramé decoration at the neck of a black shift tux with tulip-shaped cropped pants, or the gold boyfriend jacket over a white shift, were soft details that brightened up this seriously chic collection.
