(NEW YORK) Plage Privée had a more refined tone inspired by the French seaside scenes of the 1920s, when people used to dress up to go to the beach. Risqué hemlines and jumpsuits contrasted with the 19th century-inspired corsetry, panataloons, and caped jackets. The lace-up boots paired with crêpe de chine, feathery silk, and draped jersey coats and dresses were an interesting contrast in a collection that was otherwise cohesively feminine. Cotton shirting, triangular pleats, and chiffon braids worn with cloche hats and sunglasses clearly showed the '20s inspiration. Temperley’s Black Label includes elaborate cocktail and full length evening dresses with ornate handwork techniques and embroideries playing to the designer’s strength of making dreamy evening dresses whose fans include Padma Lakshmi and Molly Sims. Nightgown patterns like the “Monaco” included an eclectic mixture of stones and crystals placed on straps and waistbands, while “Eve” featured heavy bold stones embroidered onto tulle.
