Behnaz Sarafpour - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2008
(NEW YORK) Behnaz Sarafpour's Spring 2008 collection was certainly one of her strongest, not to mention most environmentally sound, with her inclusion of eco-friendly hemp and naturally dyed cotton designs in green, white, and jungle print. Although Sarafpour herself couldn't make the show due to illness, she really hit her stride with the green and ochre rattan weave tunics with delicate coral and wood embroidery details which really made the models' smoky eyes, tanned faces, and pink lips stand out. These dresses were at the same time elegant and vintage-looking, flattering and just a little off-beat. The standout among the many feminine looks was a strapless black satin weave dress with coral embroidery. Attempting to create luxury while preserving the environment is certainly a worthy endeavor, even if it does occasionally fall short of the mark.
