Lela Rose - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2008
Lela Rose Spring 2008(NEW YORK) Pretty and feminine remain Lela Rose’s favorite adjectives, reflected in her delicate collection this season. The designer’s strengths are her use of exquisite fabrics and the ability to dress women in a perfectly flattering way. For spring, Rose’s staple materials were Guipure lace over sack cloth, green and blue taffetta, and satin, while polka dotted gold and silver looks also featured prominently. Lovely scalloped details on skirts and dresses complemented the luxurious fabrics. The silhouettes were consistent throughout the presentation, yet varied enough to keep the audience engaged. Any Lela Rose girl must have a few beautiful dresses in her closet, and the designer provided plenty of day and evening options, from a childish ivory jumper and restrained sheaths to the more dramatic strapless satin dresses and lace over sack-cloth gowns. They alternated with more casual, boyish-but-sweet pieces, like boy shorts and twill knickers and a dove taffeta anorak.
