Runway Reviews: Chris Benz
(NEW YORK) Good girls gone bad? Chris Benz tackled bad girls gone good for his Fall 2010—or rather, bad girls in the wilderness. Remembering the “bad girls in the '90s” that Benz went to high school with and their subsequent turns at National Outdoor Leadership School--forced by their parents, of course--the designer presented a collection that his signature quirky girl might wear were they forced against their will to get out in the wild. (They might not last long in those heels, bra tops, or camo-esque furs, but this is fashion, darlings.) Think bomber jackets, the sleeves crusted in multi-colored paillettes, plaid suits woven through with lurex, and neon fur mittens. The designer's J.Crew training is always evident in the classic cuts of his collections; the colors and euphoric attitude makes it worth noting. The Chris Benz girl takes on a new personality every six months—and it’s definitely fun to watch.
