Google released their list of top trending searches for 2014, and the results in the designer category might surprise you. There were the names you might expect, like Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, and perennial media darling Alexander Wang. As for the top “designer” Google search of 2014 taking first place…who took that slot? Bethany Mota. Come again? We had to Google her just to figure out who she is, and it turns out she’s not a designer at all. Mota is a YouTube darling famous for showing off her clothing, and for “designing” a line for Aeropostale. She was also on Dancing With The Stars. Wonders will never cease. Who came in second? Hey Paige. Since Bethany is not and probably will not be an elite designer for quite some time, maybe it would be have been to exclude her from the list and mention the real top ten? Just a thought.
