Emilio Pucci - Milan Spring 2009
(MILAN) What better way to say arrivaderci to Matthew Williamson than more of what he does best? This season, the Pucci designer (whose contract expires and will be replaced by Peter Dundas) looked to Capri, and the coral, hunter and rose prints certainly showed it. The palm-print pieces--as well as bum-baring dresses made out from oversized rick-rack--were a bit more random: the eighties via the seventies, or something like that. The fussy bathing suits certainly nodded to the spirit. Unexpectedly, the bedazzled pieces were most successful, including a mustard and brown geometric top paired with slouchy coffee-colored trousers (the same ones we've been seeing all week, but so what?). Another hit was a tunic dress all glammed up in graphic tacked-on decals, so from afar it resembled a lean disco ball. That's the spirit!
