MaxMara - Milan Spring 2009
(MILAN) With a star-studded front row (Anna! Andre! Carine!), MaxMara presented an un-basic take on basics. After all, why wear pants when you can sport overalls? Hey, when they're unadorned in front and worn over a simple tank, it works--for a very special woman, that is. The palette of cream and khaki was punched up when a saturated lemon suit hit the runway, and the stampede of color gave this relatively straightforward fare some life. "The dress code is back," said the designer’s notes. "A sexy, urban collection for the self-assured woman." MaxMara envisions her wearing boxy white flyaway silk jackets, silk khaki suits with cargo pockets and elastic-backed jackets, and a sequined dolman-sleeved turtleneck. Fuschia and klimt blue shirt dresses were among the most wearable offerings--second only to the tailored jackets, which make MaxMara a Mecca for so many.
