MaxMara - Milan Fashion Week Spring 2008
This season MaxMara played with fabric and introduced the little black dress in multiple incarnations. The Spring 2008 collection was a combination of seemingly incongruous design elements; some were sharply tailored, while others were deconstructed. Japanese-inspired touches informed more casual looks. The mixed bag of fabrics was heavy on lamination, relying predominantly on satin and patent leather. It was high on shine and short on variety. A long pink shiny trench turned the basic staple into a candy wrapper. Standouts included a long black tuxedo jacket transformed into a coat dress. Tailored suits and cropped leather jackets contrasted with the voluminous blush skirts, bubble dresses, and tops.
