Gucci - Milan Fashion Week Spring 2008
Frida Giannini is a human time machine. The designer is always informed by a particular decade and this season she took us back to the 1950s. Voluminous skirts with pink lady jackets were relaxed and young and short graphic dresses were bold and energetic. Making a direct transition from cruise--black, white, and yellow dominated a color palette that relied on floral patterns, plaid, and checked prints. Tiny biker jackets were paired with the new version of the “Frida” pant, while origami pleats and bold graphics brought in an Asian aesthetic. Thick belts continue to play an essential role in cinching dresses, jackets, and swimwear.
