Bulgari Hosts an Intimate Party for Its New Exhibit

by Kristen Heinzinger

Last night, Bulgari and special guest Liv Tyler hosted a cocktail event and private dinner to celebrate BULGARI & ROME: Eternal Inspiration, a new exhibit that highlights 40 pieces of heritage jewelry, showcasing how Rome has inspired the luxury designer’s pieces through its history, architecture, monuments, and motifs of buildings and sculptures.

The cocktail reception took place in the exhibit space, which is located on the second floor of the Fifth Ave. flagship store. Afterward, guests gathered at the James B. Duke House up the street for a private Roman Bacchanal dinner, who all looked their best in Bulgari, including Alexa Chung, Harley Viera-Newton, Giovanna Battaglia, Jessica Hart, Alessandra Neidich, Cleo Wade, Indre Rockefeller, Lily Kwong, Zani Gugelmann, and Lauren Remington Platt. The theme compelled guests to don diaphanous dresses and floral crowns (and Tyler, Jimmy Choo’s New Mariah sandal). The theme infiltrated everything from the decor—florals like climbing ivy, vines, citrus and cypress trees and arrangements with heirloom fruits—to the serving-ware, including hand-blown glass plates etched with 18-karat gold from France. If it sounds like a scene straight out of a painting, that’d be right: The set was inspired by 16th century Italian artist Caravaggio’s still lifes.

Visitors of the exhibit—which opens today and runs through November 22—should be sure to find the two-tone gold necklace with five Roman Imperial silver alloy coins; a radiant sautior in gold with emerald, rubies and diamonds interpreting the octagonal ceiling of the Palazzo della Rovere in 1969; and a bib necklace representing Via Appian paved with multicolor sapphires and diamonds.
