Roberto Cavalli - Milan Fall 2008
(MILAN) Roll Call: Petra Nemcova, Eva Herzigova, Michelle Yeoh, Carolina Kostner, Suzy Menkes, Carine Roitfeld, Kate Betts, Ron Frasch, Linda Fargo, Roopal Patel, Jim Gold, Stephanie Solomon, Nina Garcia, Stefano Tonchi
Chic Report: Cavalli’s new collection was heavy on feminine florals--colorful sprigs, mimosa blossoms, vibrant roses. It was a rather springy choice for fall, but apt considering his focus seemed to be on ladylike mid-century prom queens (tiaras and all). For day, there were dainty, full-skirted frocks and a gorgeous magenta wrap sweater paired with a multicolored skirt; for evening, models emerged in embroidered bustiers, sweeping, garden-print gowns, and the show-stopper, a sheer black lace evening gown. “The piece coats and all the magenta, violet, and animal trim are beautiful Cavalli signatures,” said Neiman Marcus’s Ken Downing. “And I loved the lace! It’s going to be a must-have in women’s wardrobes this fall.”
