Chic Report: Ladylike without being prissy, whimsical without being kitcshy, Marni's Fall 2008 collection was classic Consuela Castiglioni--and her charming knack for mixing and matching prints has never been more evident. The color scheme--amber, rose, crimson, camel, and dove grey--was elegance at its best, and the looks played with proportion and layering in a new way. Standouts included stained glass-print frocks, a pink knit vest layered over a crimson pencil skirt, a safari-inspired camel-and-black print dress, and high-drama, ruffled blouses--all paired with striped tights and wood platforms. "She really knows women," said Elle's Nina Garcia. The divine accessories stole the show, especially the fur rucksacks and tiny snakeskin purses. Open-toed boots, mulled leather soles, and leather ankle-sock boots perfectly reflected Marni's indomitable spirit.
