Emilio Pucci - Milan Fall 2007
(NEW YORK) Refusing to sacrifice Pucci's colorful proclivities for fall, Matthew Williamson's fall collection resembled nothing so much as Yellow Submarine come to life. Psychedelic combos of Creamsicle orange, plum and royal purple, and sundry blues and greens provided a kaleidascopic palette, while slim straight lines on coats segued into rounded, cartoonish hems, emphasizing the decade's Pop art influences rather than more baroque tendencies. Patterns on mini dresses with three-quarter length sleeves, meanwhile, evoked Mondrian-like geometrics or stained glass windows. Though whether it's where we'd all like to live is a matter of individual taste, there were fewer shows this season so far that felt more refreshing to visit.|page|
