Bottega Veneta - Milan Fall 2007
(NEW YORK) What’s luxury if you can’t have a little fun with all that high-grade fabric? Tomas Maier showed shapes that made the most of the materials at hand, with a silhouette featuring sharp cap sleeves (poufs for evening) jutting out over flared, above-the-knee skirts. Mini dresses swinging with forests of fuzzy, champagne-colored fringe were a stand-out, as was a bustier-topped slip frock in buttercup yellow swathed in an oversized, cocoon-like shaggy black fur. But the production never crossed the line into excess, merely pointed out that luxe isn’t for made for everyone, so why design down?|page|
