Topshop Unique - London Fashion Week Spring 2008
(LONDON) Topshop Unique is what cool girls and rock chicks wear in London, but this time the collection was a bit more grown up in spirit. It oozed effortless urban casualness with a hint of romance. This collection was very straightforward, urban, and commercial all at once: there were easy, comfortable pieces featured throughout. The show began with a palette of blue silk ink and watercolor blues in featherweight blouses, teamed with slouchy trousers and stripy masculine jackets, navy tie-dyed silk vests and khaki pants, and floral china tea-set prints on floaty chiffon dresses. The urban vibe was also echoed in items such as a cotton grey romper suit or the silk parkas featured with every outfit. For night, there were floaty, dreamy dresses in coral but also off-the-shoulder mini ruffled dresses in electric blue. The biggest surprise: chocolate-brown crochet swimwear.
