Carolina Herrera - Bridal Fall 2008
(NEW YORK) “I was inspired by the history of fashion through the ages,” said Carolina Herrera of her fall bridal collection, fittingly presented at the entrance to the newly reopened Plaza Grand Ballroom. There were bustiers, empire waists, and modern silhouettes. The designer even incorporated a sophisticated riding jacket from her fall ready-to-wear collection. The feathered hats that impressed at New York Fashion Week once again added whimsy and imagination to the styling of the presentation. “This is a fantasy; it’s the most important day in the life of a women and she can choose what suits her own vision.” While some looks seemed fit for a bride on horseback, others were spectacularly regal as if meant to adorn a bride arriving in a glistening carriage. A blush and ivory strapless taffeta ball gown with ruffle detail had a Gone with the Wind aesthetic, while an ivory silk cashmere sweater paired with a fox-cuffed felt jacket was classically chic. “They look rich,” Herrera said.
