Carolina Herrera - Pre-Fall 2008
(NEW YORK) Birds of a feather have long donned Carolina Herrera's quintessentially elegant wares, but for her Pre-Fall 2008 collection, the designer repossessed the fine feather in print and appliqué. A hand-painted peasant feather gown was the belle of the ball, while an ostrich feather shrug added warmth and whimsy to simpler looks. Inspired by the Loire Valley in Paris during the fall season and the region's plush florals, the looks were feminine and graceful, such as the purple-and-silver painted gradient strapless dress with a sprinkling of detail. Aside from Herrera's classic evening looks, this season introduced long hand-fringed cardigans and interesting pairings of embellished tanks with satin tuxedo pants. Grey, eggplant, mauve, blush, and amethyst dominated the color palette with touches of rich black caviar ribbon. Mosaic jewels, sequins, and sparkle added a dazzling modern touch.
