Elie Saab - Paris Haute Couture Fall 2009
(PARIS) The world's best-selling couturier debuted an all-white collection of evening confections that proved just how easily one hue can translate into 46 looks (with enough beading, feathering and flowering, that is). There's a reason so many women bound for a red carpet depend on this brand--Saab's fawning over the female form has few rivals. But this season, he allowed himself to indulge a younger, cheekier side--to great effect. An asymmetrical sleeved open-back mini in boiled wool had plenty of conceal-to-reveal moxie, while a silk swing dress draped in paillettes will give those seeking a gown alternative a reason to indulge. But Saab's versatility made its mark in an entirely paillette-embroidered swing coat, studded with organza flowers and plumes. "I'm inspired by every woman I meet," said the designer before the show. "Why design for just one?"
