Vivienne Tam - New York Spring 2010
(NEW YORK) Is it late enough in the decade (or is fashion moving that quickly) that designers can viably start referencing the early aughts? Vivienne Tam’s spring collection, with its butterfly motif, sequins, and flared pants, was simply too familiar. Suede hiphuggers, irregular hems, and printed jersey dresses might have been successful on their won, but in one collection was bit too much. The collection wasn’t without charms, though: some tie-neck blouses were ladylike and lovely, and hippie-esque fringed hobo bags will have boho-chicettes clamoring.
