Carolina Herrera - New York Fall 2007
(NEW YORK) To call it "dark" or "edgy" would be going too far, but Herrera's girls this season had more on their minds than simply looking pretty—but of course, they were. The designer seemed to be juggling a widening scope of references: a square, three quarter sleeve fur tunic worn over a straight plad skirt paired with substantially spangled stockings for an almost grunge-like layered effect, adapted for the Park Avenue set; when the skirt's pattern showed up again in a bustier dress, the effect was nearer to Anglomania. But it was refreshing to see Herrera's uptown vision successfully interpret these streetwear-influenced looks for her rarified customers without diluting their spirit.|page|
