Bottega Veneta - Milan Fashion Week Spring 2008
Chaos may have been the inspiration, but Bottega Veneta's spring collection was anything but chaotic. With a focus on silhouettes, the color palette ranged from grey hues from the sky, rice, butter, and marble, pulling order into the chaos. Nipped waists accentuated dresses, belts, and bathing suits, while hems were lowered to just below the knee, giving an elegant look to the collection. The long silhouette was contrasted with wedges, platforms, and cone-shaped heels, as organic patterns were woven into the signature Bottega Veneta bags. According to Tomas Maier, "This is a collection that requires a second look. At first glance, you don't see all that's going on. There are unexpected combinations, different proportions, no-color colors...I like that the clothes are almost invisible, so the woman is what you see."
