Sue Wong - L.A. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2008
(LOS ANGELES) Inspired by modern art masters like Calder, Miró, and Matisse, Sue Wong brought bold colors and iconic shapes to the runway in her newest collection, with dresses that hit just above the knee--but whose modesty was dressed up by the designs. Bright geometric prints were young and fresh. Amidst the jolts of color and sweet pastels was a more neutral safari segment with khaki sheaths and zebra prints. Wong is an expert at tasteful embellishment and this collection was no exception. Sparkles, large headpieces, and color-blocked sequins added pizzazz to the runway. Greens, pinks, and blues not only decorated flowing dresses but also appeared in the makeup as eye shadow and unconventional lipstick. Sara Ramirez from Grey's Anatomy was in the front row, and after the show Wong celebrated with a private dinner party at Tangiers restaurant.
