Patricia Samaniego, the winner of BACARDI Limon’s Express Your Style Fashion Design Competition, couldn’t stop smiling as she was awarded $5,000, a two-week internship with the design label HOLLYWOULD and a portfolio critique and job placement opportunity from 24Seven, Inc.

The announcement took place in New York last week with judges including Vanessa Minnillo, MTV VJ and Entertainment Tonight correspondent, Holly Dunlap, designer and founder, HOLLYWOULD, Tanya Jensen-Hawver, Fashion Editor, The DAILY, Ernie Buffalino, VP of Creative for 24Seven, Inc. and Jennifer Goodkind and Jayne Chase of  "A Fashionable Life Radio”.

The judges were on-hand to observe the contestants during the live 'Cut and Sew' portion of the competition.  Here, the contestants had to demonstrate their dressmaking skills in a reality show environment.  They needed to trace, cut, sew, baste and drape their fabrics in front of a live audience. Patricia was one of five finalists who were chosen out of a pool of more than 350 entrants.

Patricia’s lemony chiffon and satin bubble dress impressed everyone including Dunlap, “I’m so excited to have Patricia, she is so talented and her design is actually very HOLLYWOULD."

The glam winner, who was flown from Las Vegas for the competition, was thrilled  to accept award. “I’m extremely excited, I really wasn’t expecting to win. I would absolutely love to move back to New York since I went to FIT,” gushed Samaniego already clad in gold HOLLYWOULD shoes.

Everyone had the chance to meet the fash-insider panel of judges, including runners-up, Carly J. Cais, Steven Hoffman, Aeran Park and Kurt Smith who also designed stunning BACARDI Limon-inspired creations. "Our magazine, The MINI, is all about bringing the inside world of fashion to passionate readers everywhere,” said Brandusa Niro, Editor in Chief of Fashion MINI. “And now, thanks to Bacardi Limon's amazing initiative, we were able to offer our readers a way to express their design talent in front of the New York fashion media. We are so pleased with this event."
