Italian For Fashionettes! Day Two

Back by popular demand! The Italian phrases you need to get the job done—if that job involves attending Milan Fashion Week, that is.

Can you make it without the cream? "Puoi farlo senza la panna?"

This is costing me 35 cents a tweet. "Questo mi costa 35 centesimi un tweet."

Why do bloggers get car services when I'm taking the free shuttle? "Perché i bloggers ottenere servizi auto quando sto prendendo la navetta gratuita?"

Is Patrizio in a good mood? I really can't tell. "Patrizio è di cattivo umore? Non posso davvero dire."

Why don't we ever go to the Bice in New York? "Perché non abbiamo mai andare al Bice a New York?"

The Camera della Mode is keeping us in town til Monday night—and who's complaining? After all, Milan Fashion Week is still young. Despite a fair amount of late-night dining and dishing at Bice, the Principe, the Bulgari, and (we won't name names), Plastic, the (bulk of) editors braved the via Senato for a breakfast of luxe basics, courtesy of Max Mara. Was David Remnick there? Yes, yes he was. Next up: Fendi, where Lagerfeld showed camo fur and Silvia Fendi gave us an embarrassment of riches in the bag department. Now D&G, lunch, and lots of prep for Prada, which is at 6 p.m.. Baci!

Celeb stylist June Ambrose counts Alicia Keys, Kanye West and Estelle as clients, but Chic considers HER a star. We recently small talked with Ms. Ambrose.

June, Where do you live?

I live in New York. Right here in the concrete jungle. Jay-Z is my client! That anthem was made for me. I live by the UN, so people always think I'm from some embassy.

What's on your head?

This is a June Ambrose turban. I've been inspired by turbans for years. In terms of it being a trend, I think I'm right on track.

What was the last wedding you were out?

I was just invited to Prince William and Kate's wedding.  I'm also Oprah's sister.

Ever wanted to intern for a fabulous designer like Mara Hoffman and help craft her next collection? The answer may soon be on your shower ledge. No, really! Hoffman is designing four limited-edition shaving gel cans for Skintimate, in tandem with a contest running through March 23 with a prize fit for a fashionista. For the second year, Skintimate Studios beckons to burgeoning designers to submit a Ready For Everything sketch of a femme frock, plus a few short answers on why you're prepped for style success. The lucky winner, plucked from ten finalists by online voters, will spend two weeks in NYC and Miami with Hoffman's marvelous team in July. This just so happens to be right during the whirlwind debut of her sure-to-be-darling bikinis during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim shows. Chic says lather up and start sketching!

Mon dieu! We'll refrain from making some obvious joke about the Oscars, but this look leaves us a wee speechless. How do you feel about golden models walking the runway at the Cassette Play show at Somerset House in London? Is it just too subtle for Fall?

A Moment With...Rebecca Taylor

Chic recently had a chat with designer Rebecca Taylor to talk books, magazine articles and what made her laugh last.

If you weren't here right now, where would you rather be?

At home with my kids, reading them a book. Probably princess books.

What are you reading right now?

I'm reading Philip Roth's book about polio, I forget what it's called. (Editor's Note: The book is Nemesis) It's on my kindle. He's amazing; he's one of my favorite writers. Besides that, I was reading this amazing article in Vanity Fair about big-wave surfing, which totally blew my mind.

What made you laugh in the past week?

My husband is known for moving very slowly. He was running around with the kids and my mother said he'd broken into a trot--like a horse. I don't know why that made me laugh so much. I very rarely laugh, but I found that to be really funny.
