Designer Christian Cota clearly captivated Anna Wintour last night at Christie's. We've never seen her look more focused, engrossed. The dear chums were at Christie's for their Green Auction: Bid to Save the Earth event that included a runway show and a performance by Nicki Minaj.

Chic's very own Stacey Bendet is the only designer who landed on Crain's 40 under Forty list which celebrates some of the most accomplished in their fields under 40-years-old. The Alice + Olivia chief executive, 33, tells us, "No one would have guessed this when I was 21-years-old and rollerblading down Madison Avenue in striped pants on my cell phone." Her progress is pretty impressive. Bendet founded the company in 2002 and last year sales reached $62 million and are expected to top $85 million this year. Her company is also moving in to new 24,000-square-foot headquarters in the MePa later this year. Congrats, Stacey! We knew writing a Mommy and Me column for us was going to pay off for you.

Didn't see this coming: The New York Post's Keith Kelly reports that according to his reliable sources Gwyneth Paltrow might have her own cooking magazine with Hearst. A spokesperson for Hearst insists this isn't true and "beyond her occasionally appearing on our magazine covers, we don't have any other projects in the works with Gwyneth Paltrow."  Kelly also reports that once Hearst chairman and CEO Frank Bennack signs the check to Lagardere's Lagardere Group they expect the newly acquired US subsidiary Hachelle Filipacchi Media will move Elle and Elle Decor into the Hearst Tower.

Who Knew? Alexander Wang's Furry Furniture!

Last week, Chic popped into Alexander Wang's lovely debut store on Grand and Mercer for cocktails, shopping and a quick chat with the infectiously bubbly designer during an American Express card members' shopping soiree. That already-cult-status fur hammock will likely have a waiting list to go for a mid-shopping swing soon enough; good thing Wang has a matching fur sofa to curl up in at his abode! Plus, a few credit card queries, given the occasion for the casual shindig...

What’s the story behind this fur hammock?
We thought it was a fun idea, and it brings a touch of home into my store.

So you’re in possession of two fur hammocks?

I have a black fur sofa at home, but not a hammock. I helped design both of them, and everything in the store is customized.

How’s the new store going?
It’s great, people can come in and lounge around. And my friends like to hang out in the hammock.

Since AMEX is hosting this event, naturally we're curious: How old were you when you got your first credit card?
I have no idea!

Do you know your current credit score?
Again, no idea! I’m totally lost when it comes to these questions.

How many credit cards are in your wallet right now?
I have three. I like to keep it to a minimum, so I know exactly how much I’m spending.

So you’re pretty good at keeping track of your dollars and cents?

I like to think so!

Sant Ambroeus on Madison Avenue is generally good for an haute sighting, but last night's dinner scene was particularly storied. Giambattista Valli was catching up with apparent bestie Lee Radziwill, and both looked equally divine and sublime. You can try to get chicer, but you will fail.

In today's installment of "The Assistant Files," we met the very dapper Seth Plattner. The gatekeeper to Elle's editor-in-chief, Robbie Myers, opened up about his chic boss and his funny and fascinating path from an internship at SNL to the most intimate workings of a fashion bible -- now located directly across from his former 30 Rock stomping grounds, coincidentally.  Want to put more than a name to a face with this stellar assistant? Check out the vide—and FYI, Chic has never seen someone fidget as calmly as Seth does with that rubber band. It's all in the details, no?
