Naomi Campbell: Not Amused

Naomi Campbell is furious with Cadbury! She's considering taking legal action after the company used her name to promote its Bliss chocolate bar. The ad reads, "Move over Naomi, there's a new diva in town," with a mound of diamonds surrounding the box of candy. In a statement, Campbell told the UK's Independent: "I am shocked. It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful." Cadbury's parent company Kraft Foods said posters with the ad have been removed and there are no plans to continue the campaign. A statement read: "It was certainly never our intention to cause any offense and the campaign itself is a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss."

Hell on Heels! With Sasha Charnin Morrison

Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! Shoes!

Are all shoes created equal? Not according to UsWeekly fashion director Sasha Charnin Morrisonwho shares what happens when she skips the heels. Check the Gallery for photographic evidence!

"When I wear my Miu Miu's, like I did today, doors open, doormen clap like seals when they see me coming, salespeople say nice things, and the general admiration comes in spades. But when I pair the J.Crew ballerinas with the same look...crickets. Doors don't open, general silence, overwhelming neglect. The power of a very femme high heel is amazing. How little the rose gold ballerinas get in return!"

Live from Chic Hampton: Hamming it Up at SoulCycle

Alec Baldwin: not sweaty here. Alec Baldwin: not sweaty here.

The chic set has (for the most part) successfully returned to Manhattan after a mildly debauched weekend out East—fueled, no doubt, by fervent reading of The Daily Dan. As usual, your Chic attempts to mix pleasure and pain, so our jaunts to Cyril's were tempered with not one, but two trips to the just-opened-on-Friday location of SoulCycle in East Hampton. (No need to applaud, really.) Luckily, we come back with some sightings to report: Alec Baldwin and Matthew Broderick sweated it out to Madonna tunes at MB's class on Sunday. "I don't need air conditioning, but I do need some air!" smiled a sweaty Baldwin afterwards. He lingered around the studio to chat with his apparent buddy Broderick, who sported his signature tortoiseshell glasses to the class. Well done, boys!

Adieu, Elaine's!

Elaine Kaufman Elaine Kaufman

At 4 a.m. this morning, the venerable media haunt that is Elaine's served its last drink. Opened by Elaine Kaufman in December 1963 with a $10,000 investment, the UES resto has become an institution over the past 48 years thanks to its feisty namesake hostess who curated a crowd of literary and cinema luminaries including Tom Wolfe, Woody Allen and Gay Talese (and booted out the patrons she didn't want around). In other words, people weren't returning night after night for the cuisine--and that was quite alright, given the storied scene Kaufman created over the years. This is a place with an area demarcated as "Siberia," after all! When Elaine passed away in December, her loyal regulars and the media world alike mourned the loss of the venerable parlour where media wheelings and dealings were brokered, sass with dished up and Manhattan was filmed. Longtime manager Diane Becker inherited the haunt and kept up shop for six months before announcing plans to shutter the resto on May 17. In honor of Elaine's last call, Chic feels compelled to bid farewell to Elaine with a few bon mots and verbal reveries...

David Zinczenko, editor-in-chief of Men's Health, to Mediaite:
“For the last decade-and-a-half, I spent more nights in Elaine Kaufman’s restaurant than anywhere else on Earth; a rough calculation in my head reveals that her staff served me somewhere in the vicinity of 1300 dinners...At Elaine’s, I learned that a great restaurant was like a great magazine—a collection of unique voices speaking a common language.”

It's not often (ever?) that we see Grace Coddington with her hair pulled back, so today we bestow the Look Of The Daily to her for switching things up a bit. She looked beautiful as usual at El Museo's 2011 gala honoring Mario Testino. Mwah!
